Hi Mike,
just to let you know, the second link goes to the same web page (Wikipedia).

Other then that, I don't know Lotus Symphony, so I can't comment really on that topic.

Greetings from the MatriX,

Thanks guys, I have everything back now.
Besides that fact that I'm not much of a researcher, I usually find everything but not what I want, it was not exactly as easy as the Mozilla Article states. Copy & Paste just didn't work, for me at least. But I figured it out with some importing and exporting and I got all my addresses and bookmarks back. Well, one problems might have been that I never install on Windows the default way. So, I was looking at the wrong directory for the files....

Thanks again for your help.

Greetings from the MatriX,
Recover Thunderbird addressbooks

The nice Mozilla guys give you help on this (easily googleable!)
Good tips for backup and recovery of your data.
Mozilla Article "Moving address books between profiles"

Blessings to all!
Recovering Firefox bookmarks

Both on Linux and Windows (probably mac too), Firefox stores bookmarks in an html file. Inside Linux, it is in the .mozilla directory of the home folder. The path in Windows is a little more complex (read convoluted). Below I've posted the path to it as I found it in my WinXP VMware installation:

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uce83a2n.default\bookmarkbackups

I'm not very familiar with Thunderbird, but I imagine it would probably work similar to Firefox, seeing as they are made by the same group.

BlueTie - I Need to Read the Comments

Remind me next time to read the comments on any review that I read about a product.

After reading the comments under the TechCrunch article it looks like the Free version of BlueTie is only available to US based businesses / locations. Pretty useless for most YWAM bases out there, but it could serve a few of our US bases.

A great tool for collaboration

This looks like a great tool for many YWAM bases. From what I have read from some people it would also work great for collaborative work.

There is a good article about it here: Duct Tape Marketing: Google Aps for your Domain

Evolution as a Client for Exchange

One thing that we have been playing around with a bit on some of our Linux machines (in trial phase) is Evolution, which includes a connector to Exchange. This seems to allow the use of an opensource client, but still using Exchange for the server side.

Sometimes there are tradeoffs...

I think we need to keep our eyes on the ball in regard to this and other MS Exchange and OL replacements. They have come a long way in recent years.

That said, we tried Open Exchange (SUSE) and looked at some other products. At the end of the day, we could not find anything that really worked as well as Exchange and tightly integrate with other desktop applications such as the wordprocesor. With our gravitation towards Sharepoint as a intranet solution, we decided to go ahead and establish a MS network, though our environment is still mixed and would readily adopt non-MS solutions if appropriate.

Having been a heavy Linux and Samba user for years, I have come to the conclusion that even with its quirks, the ease of MS collaboration solutions working pretty much out of the box along with the charity pricing we can obtain, it's a hard deal to beat. The big problem is the hardware required to run everything, but even that is getting cheaper.
