Hi @ all.
I'm going to both, the Asia Pacific Staff Conference and the UofN Workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Is someone else going there? I would like too meet you all face to face, well, if you are going, of course. I should be very easy to find. Just look out for a strange looking guy at the sound desk. And if you are nice to me (tell me the sound is the best ever, invite me to dinner, etc.) I might even introduce you to my wife so that you get to know the most important person, well, besides Jesus.... ;)
BTW, if you are not going I still would appreciate your prayers.
a) That the sound (I'm sitting behind the sound desk not just to look at it....) is good and the sound system works trouble free
b) I/we get all the needed finances.
c) We also need to apply for a new Visa while we are in Thailand, so, basically that this is going through painless....
Thanks for your prayers, guys.
Greetings from the MatriX,

Chiang Mai
Hi Neo
I am planning to be there as well! You will find me running around helping facilitate the GENESIS links at the UofN Workshop. I look forward to meeting you!
I was there in May to check out connectivity and visited all the conference rooms at the hotel. It will be a good site for the participants.
BTW... As you prepare for running sound, please remember to include on your soundboard specs that you will need an aux out feed for the GENESIS mix and an incoming audio channel to receive the GENESIS feed to the house.
Blessings
Mike
re:Chiang Mai
Hi Mike,
that's cool. At the moment we are planning to get a "Allen & Heath" 48ch sound desk. So, channels should not be the issue, I guess. I don't know the exact model yet but even if we run out of Aux channels I'm pretty sure there is some sort of Matrix that can be used as additional output. I worst case we always can "miss-use" a normal input as output for Genesis. Oh oh, I just remember some concerts and stuff I did with all sorts of strange settings. So, believe me, there is always a way. Anyways, Allen & Heath usually have rich featured boards. BTW, if someone is interested here is a link to the A&H GL Series, the Live Mixing Consoles:

I'm just wondering who is actually attending. About 120 ppl from Perth are coming and with everyone I spoke so far is involved in at least something.... Like my wife. First of not coming at all, then coming, now probably involved with the registration. So, if you get registered by a German in Thailand chances are you've talking with my wife. And just in case you don't know, this is how you identify a German:

Not Thailand, but ...
Neo,
Good initiative, starting this post, I mean!
I will not be in Thailand, but I have a definite interest in blessing you with prayer and any support we can give. I second Mike's comment about the audio needs for GENESIS. We will also have to make sure you can connect with the GENESIS team leader for Chiang Mai, so that you can talk, and that we can create the best experience for the audience. There is nothing like working as a team.
Thanks for making yourself vulnerable and taking on this responsibility!

re:Not Thailand, but ...
Hi Sindre,
ya, I'm looking forward to Thailand and work together with the GENESIS guys. Actually it will be the first time I do sound when there is a GENESIS link involved. But from what I've seen here in Perth the part on the sound desk is actually not the most scary one. After all, either I get a signal or I don't. I don't really know how the technical side of GENESIS works so I would be of little help in troubleshooting if something unexpected happens.
So, you are right, there is nothing like working as a team. Hmm, well, if I'm in charge.... Just kidding. ;) I really do look forward to work it all out to make the best possible set up for everyone and by that get to know a few new faces. I just hope my face is not too shocking for others, someone told I'm looking like a real German barbarian.

Not This time...
Unfortunately I won't be going to Thailand for the conference. My wife and I had been talking about going before we got back to Townsville, but my son is scheduled for a surgery in the middle of August, so we are going to have to miss out on this one...
It looks like there might only be 2 or 3 people attending from Reef to Outback.
