Now that some talk is going on about IT, social networking and Skype I thought I throw a Slashdot discussion in here. Someone asked about FOSS Multi-point Video Conferencing solutions. Maybe some of you are interested in that discussion. http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/08/05/18/1546227.shtml
Have fun reading it ;)
I was reading the Crit 07 report and was interested by the part about proposing an IT Symposium "a gathering of IT specialists that can come together and work on a common project – an IT project/infrastructure that will serve the mission as a whole".
I have often day dreamed about what would help us all in YWAM so I have decided to ask this question here: What would you like to see put at peoples fingertips? (Fingertips, forget backend's for now). What should YWAMers have as an IT tool for effective and productive life in the mission?
I await your wishlist. I will write mine after I receive the first comment!
The question I have always wanted to ask about Genesis but was too afraid to ask is this:
What is the Is the underlying technology for Genesis? I understand the teleconferencing standard is now h.323? Is that what Genesis uses?
Hey! I've been testing some OpenSource and Free software for using with Videoconferencing equipment and I was wondering if someone here have tested, tried or successfully used any of the following software.
Xmeeting - for Mac computers
Ekiga - Formerly known as Gnome Meeting ( for Linux and has a beta for Windows)
If you have used or want to try it and post some comments it would be greatly appreciated...
Also if you know of any other H323 (Video Enabled) software could you please post it here.
Thanks!
I think I vaguely remember when the service first started, but I did not pay much attention.
A category for web-based job request, help desk, support request ticket systems.
Two great multi-protocol IM's exist that can help in IM communications. These are small programs that require little resources, unlike the proprietary IM programs (i.e. Yahoo, MSN, etc.), so it's possible to get excellent performance on slower machines. It's also nice to use a multiple IM because you don't have to try to convince your friends to switch to another protocol. Instead, you can accomodate them. Some things are limited, like file transferring, video or audio. I use Skype for those things.
